Care about Legacy?
Do it for Dorsey!

From living at Decatur’s United Methodist Children’s Home as a child to, as an adult, working there until its sale to the City of Decatur to now serving as its de facto caretaker, no one knows the ins and outs of Legacy Park better than Dorsey Nobles. It would not be an exaggeration to call him the soul of the property.

Visit the park and there’s a good chance you’ll bump into him, eager to offer a smile, joke, or helping hand.

In total, Dorsey’s been a fundamental part of the property for 54 years — something clearly worthy not just of gratitude but of recognition — and that’s why we’ve launched our $54 for 54 campaign. We’re asking those who know and love the park (or Dorsey!) to show their affection in the form of a $54 donation. Or any amount, really, if you’re so inclined.

Donated funds will be used in support of park upgrades, conservation, and programming, ensuring Decatur’s 77 acre urban oasis remains a useful and beloved part of the community.

There are many things special about Decatur and this is most certainly one of them. Help us celebrate Dorsey’s legacy. Donate today.
