ecatur Community Habitat is the newest organization at Legacy Park, founded by Decatur resident Kristy Bible and located in the Isom Cottage. Kristy created DCH as a way to share her passion for both sustainable landscaping and community engagement. The organization’s mission is to create and foster thriving communities of plants, insects, wildlife as well as Decatur neighbors through hands-on educational programs and welcoming spaces.
How You Can Help
Decatur Community Habitat welcomes assistance from the Decatur community and beyond. Here’s how:
Volunteer
As an initial project, DCH plans to transform the front yard of Isom Cottage into an ecosystem filled with native plants, food crops, and, of course, beauty! This project will be completed with a series of education-focused community volunteer opportunities. These opportunities are designed to build skills that volunteers can take home to their own yard. Everyone is welcome!
Current volunteer opportunities are:
Every Thursday: 1-3pm
2nd and 4th Friday: 9-11am
